National Institute of Motivational and Institutional Development (NIMID) has been promoted in 1975 by Innovative professionals who have been for years working in the fields of Motivational Training and Industrial Management. Then the paramount problem was the modern industrialization particularly sparking the economic development in the backward areas.

It became evident that though the infrastructure and the support system are necessary conditions, they are not sufficient unless the process of emergence of the local entrepreneurship in adequate measure is catalyzed. It had been universally recognized that the Achievement Motivation in the community triggers the process and growth of economic development.

So, Shri G.B. Newalkar and Shri Pr. M. S. Nadkarni with their colleagues proposed to establish an Institute for Motivational and Institutional Development. There had been no Institute of Motivational Education in India then. When the proposal was placed before eminent personalities in the Government, Institutions and Business community, it was promptly appreciated and supported by.

We, the several persons, whose names, credentials are given below, have associated ourselves for the purpose described in this Memorandum of Association, set our several and respective hands hereunto and formed ourselves in the Society under Act XXI of 1960, this 30th day of June 1975 together.
